Home Party Tips

If you're hosting a home party of any kind, whether it be Tupperware, or another company, there are some tried and true tips for making your party a success. You may have heard some of these before, and although they may seem simple, don't dismiss them! It's tempting to ignore the simplest tips, thinking they can't possibly have an impact. But if you follow these home party tips, your party will be a success.

8 Tips for a Successful Home Party

  • 1. Guest List - Write a guest list, and use it to track your guests' RSVP. Keeping track means that you can get in touch with friends who haven't called you yet to let you know if they can make it, and it will also give you a complete list for reminder phone calls. Also, it's important for your home party consultant to know approximately how many people to plan for, to have enough materials and prizes for everyone.
  • 2. Invite, Invite, Invite - Don't restrict yourself to a certain part of your life. Invite everyone, all across the board! Invite at clubs you're a part of, work, church, family, friends, parents of your kids' friends, the bank teller, your hair dresser - everyone! Don't pre-judge anyone that you know. You may skip someone, thinking they wouldn't be interested, but your party could have what they're looking for. Be sure to personally invite all of your guests before giving them a reminder postcard. Either tell them in person, or over the phone, that you would love to have them come. The personal touch goes a long way.
  • 3. Remind Your Guests - A day or two before your party, call all of your guests who RSVP'ed "yes" or "maybe", and the ones who haven't responded yet. Remind them of the date and time of your party, and suggest they bring a friend. Let them know how excited you are that they're coming! It's a good idea to check with your consultant to find out any incentives she might be offering to your guests, so you can tell them. For example, I give a gift to all guests, just for coming. We also have an on-time drawing for all guests who arrive withing 4 minutes of the party's start time (7:04 for a 7:00 party), and all guests who bring a friend receive free shipping on their orders.
  • 4. Outside Orders - I know this one draws the most resistance, but I assure you, it's easier than you might think, and you can gain a lot of host credits for it. If your guest can't make it to your party, just ask her if she would like to see a catalog. Let her know she can still order if she would like, even without attending the party. It's really that simple. If she says no, then you're done. If she says yes, you'll be closer to your host credit goals! Your consultant should have provided you with order forms and instructions for filling them out. I also include a calculator in my host packets to make it as easy as possible.
  • 5. Don't Work Too Hard - Parties are supposed to be fun! Don't worry if your house doesn't look like a page in a magazine, and don't go overboard on refreshements. Something sweet, something salty, and something to drink are all you need. In my experience, guests don't usually eat that much, even when a lot of food is provided. When you host a party with me, I'll make a treat as part of the party demonstration -- either something sweet or something salty, your choice. That's half the snacks right there!
  • 6. Wish List - Take some time to look through your catalog, and make a list of the products you might want to get free and half off. It's important to have a goal! We can't reach your goal if you don't have one.
  • 7. Be Enthusiastic - Let your guests know how excited you are. Your attitude is contagious. When you're excited, the people around you will be too.
  • 8. Relax and Have Fun! - When I arrive at your party, you are officially a guest, so let loose and enjoy yourself! I'll take care of the rest.
